Second Million Dollar Commitment to Invest in Non-Profits Efforts

HONOLULU (October 27, 2016) – The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC) and the Ward Village Foundation® have committed to funding an additional $1 million for community development partnerships. In 2014, Ward Village Foundation began its long-term commitment to the community with an initial $1 million pledge. Today, the Ward Village Foundation is doubling down on its pledge to the community with a second $1 million commitment. The foundation is just one part of the meaningful community benefits generated by the development of Ward Village® and The Howard Hughes Corporation's work in Hawaiʻi.

"We recognize the vital role strong non-profit community partners play. The Ward Village Foundation allows us to make an impact in the critical services non-profits provide and the strength they give to the fabric of our community," said Todd Apo, Vice President of Community Development for The Howard Hughes Corporation. "As we prepare to welcome our first residents to Ward Village with the opening of Waiea in November, we are excited to extend our foundation efforts."

Over the past two years, the Ward Village Foundation awarded the first $1 million dollars to over 30 grants to local non-profit organizations on behalf of The Howard Hughes Corporation. These help support local non-profit efforts to strengthen our communities through a wide range of endeavors, including youth, education, culture, housing, social services, environment and sustainability programs.

"The Ward Village Foundation has helped to advance Kupuʻs mission to engage our next generation in service to the environment and Hawaiʻi's communities," said John Leong, Chief Executive Officer of Kupu Hawaii. "We appreciate their vision to support organizations like ours that seek to connect people back to place and develop a sense of kuleana or responsibility to envision a better tomorrow for our island home."

"Hawaii HomeOwnership Center thanks the Ward Village Foundation for their collaborative efforts in reaching out to prospective home buyers and informing them of our services in facilitating the creation of new and qualified homeowners," said Dennis Oshiro, Executive Director of Hawaii HomeOwnership Center. "We thank Ward Village Foundation for their generous financial support enabling us to continue our mission throughout our State."

"In recent years, state and federal funding sources have been more difficult to find for programs like ours," said Keola Nakanishi, Director of Mana Maoli. "The Ward Village Foundation not only stepped in with financial support during a critical time, they made the effort to meet with us personally and were helpful to assure project success in a way that met the needs and priorities of our beneficiaries."

"The support from Ward Village Foundation enables the very existence of HomeAid Hawaii," said Nani Medeiros, Executive Director of HomeAid Hawaii. "They've made successful projects possible, such as Tutu Bert's House, which saves the public $2.6 million per year through its housing and related services, and Home for the Holiday, which shelters homeless children and youth for Christmas."

Past awardees of the Ward Village Foundation include: After School All-Stars, Always Dream Foundation, Artspace Projects, Bikeshare Hawaii, Bishop Museum, Boys & Girls Club, Child & Family Services, Children's Discovery Center, Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, Friends of Iolani Palace, Hawaii Home Ownership Center, Hawaii Pops, Hawaii Theater, Hawaii Youth Symphony, Hoʻokuaʻaina, HomeAid Hawaii, Honolulu Theater for Youth, Kakoʻo ʻŌiwi, KCAA Preschools, Ke Aloha Hoʻikahi Preschool, Kupu, Mana Maoli, McKinley High School, Pacific Asia Advisory Council, Parents & Children Together (PACT), Pacific Resources for Education and Learning (PREL), Re-Use Hawaii, Ronald McDonald House, Surfrider Spirit Sessions, University of Hawaii Foundation, Waikiki Health, YMCA, and YWCA.

About Ward Village®

Developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation, Ward Village is a 60-acre coastal master planned community in the heart of Honolulu between downtown and Waikīkī in the Kakaʻako district. Ward Village includes four mixed-use residential towers – Waiea®, Anaha®, Aeʻo and Ke Kilohana – that are now under construction and will transform the popular shopping and dining district into a vibrant neighborhood offering exceptional residences with incredible island and ocean views and a carefully curated mix of retail experiences set among dynamic public open spaces and walkable streets.

Waiea, which will open in late 2016, will include 174 residences and be home to internationally acclaimed restaurant Nobu Honolulu. Anaha, opening in 2017, will include 317 residences and the first Merrimanʻs restaurant on Oahu. Aeʻo will complete construction in 2018; it will include 466 residences and Oahu's flagship Whole Foods Market. Construction on Ke Kilohana began in October 2016 and is slated for completion in 2019. The new residential tower welcomes local residents and a flagship Longs Drugs to the neighborhood.

A fifth project, currently available for sale, is Gateway Towers on Ala Moana Boulevard that will bring the architecture of world-renowned architect Richard Meier to the Honolulu skyline.

The vision for Ward Village is consistent with the master plan approved by the Hawaiʻi Community Development Authority in 2009, which allows for up to 9.3 million square feet of mixed-use development, converting into more than 4,000 residences and over one million square feet of retail space.

Ward Village is Hawaiʻi's only LEED-ND Platinum-Certified project and the largest neighborhood development in the country to receive such a prestigious certification. The Kaka'ako area was also recently named by Trulia as the top neighborhood with the best amenities in cities of under one million people.

The Information Center and Residential Sales Gallery is located at the iconic IBM Building located at 1240 Ala Moana Blvd. For more information, visit www.wardvillage.com or call 808.369.9600.
