4 Ways to Make Your Summer Memorable

This summer, we're all about trying new things and embracing new endeavors. We're craving adventure and are thrilled at the idea of rewriting our own future. Now, we may not be ready to take up base-jumping just yet, but there are still plenty of exciting things we're yearning to try this summer that are within our comfort zones. Lucky for us, with so much happening at Ward Village, we don't have to look far for inspiration. Below, we've listed 4 exciting things you should embrace to make this a summer you'll never forget.
1

Fall in Love with Yoga in the Ward Village Courtyard

If you're looking to spark up or rekindle your love affair with yoga and have some fun with your fitness, you can't beat the free weekly class at the IBM Building. Every Thursday, from 5:30 to 6:30, Ward Village and CorePower yoga present one of Honolulu's most magical outdoor yoga classes—best of all, it doesn't cost you a dime. At the class, you'll not only get a great workout and relax your mind, but you'll also meet new people and forge new friends within the village. However, because of its popularity, classes can only accommodate the first 50 guests, so show up a bit early. There truly is no more beautiful studio than that courtyard at the IBM Building to breathe some new life into your yoga game.

Kick Up Your Kitchen Skills at CookSpace Hawaii

Tucked away on the second floor of Ward Warehouse you'll find CookSpace, offering a creative approach to expanding Hawaii's culinary knowledge, one dish at a time. Through their cooking classes and slick test kitchen, students work with acclaimed chefs to create dishes that they would have never attempted before. Always wanted to make a proper baguette? How about the perfect dinner roll? Through classes like their upcoming Knead and Know: Bread 101, you can learn from an expert breadmaker. But it doesn't end with bread alone. Other classes focus on learning the ins and outs of making your own pasta or pastries, and that's just getting started. Check their website or follow them on social to see which classes are in the cue and right for you.

There's nothing that will get you out of bed and into your running shoes faster than knowing you have to compete in an actual race in the coming weeks. We're of the mindset that it's far better to commit to the race before you get in shape than the other way around. And when it comes to finding the right race for you this summer, we can't envision a more perfect gateway into the world of competitive running than the Mango Day 5K, held right across the street at Magic Island. For 14 years, this special race has honored the memory of Patty Smith, who tragically lost her battle with lymphoma at the tender age of 19. Her parents compiled Patty's diary entries, letters to friends, drawings and poems into the book, Mango Days, to keep Patty's memory alive. The distance, at only 5K or just over 3 miles, is very manageable, making the race the perfect race for novices. Plus, there's going to be a delectable brunch following the race at Ryan's Bar and Grill.

Embrace Your Artistic Side

Time and again, research has shown us just how important it for us to embrace the arts; it's quite literally good for your brain. While many of us develop a love of painting as children, for some reason, we give it up when we become adults. But that shouldn't be the case as it's been shown that painting is a great way to relax and unleash your creativity. When you're ready to put brush to palette, we recommend attending one of Red Pineapple's Paint and Sip classes, held every other Sunday, where you can sip on wine and create your own masterpiece. Get creative, have fun, let your mind wander—it's art after all and there are no right and wrong ways to do it. However, spaces for the classes regularly fill up quick so be sure to reach out to Red Pineapple to reserve your space.
