2014 Ward Village Foundation Recipients
At the heart of the Howard Hughes Corporation is a dedication to community.
Launched last year, The Ward Village Foundation is a permanent non-profit corporation Howard Hughes funds to support forward-thinking initiatives with a focus on building our local community from the inside out.
Since 2014, $1 million have been committed to exciting and promising causes that strive to make the Ward Village the ideal place for Hawaii citizens to live, work, and play. There are crucial components the Ward Village Foundation looks for which include support and perpetuation of native Hawaiian culture, a focus on the arts, education, health, and encouraging sustainable environmental planning with the intent of preserving Hawaii's natural beauty.
Last year was a great success in that regard! The inaugural recipients included Kupu Hawaii, Hawaii Pops, the YMCA of Honolulu, KCAA Preschools, Hawaii Youth Symphony, the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, Hawaii HomeOwnership Center, The Hawaii Theatre, Ke Aloha Ho'okahi Preschool, and the After School All-Stars.
Twice a year, Ward Village Foundation recognizes the work of a select number of non-profit organizations in Hawaii. On February 28, the recipients of the foundation's first set of 2015 grants will be announced. As you can see from the video above, Ward Village can't wait to continue planting the seeds to help grow this program and build stronger communities from the ground up.
