A Taste of Honolulu

Some of Hawai'i's top chefs came to the future site of Waiea for this owner's event following the day's momentous groundbreaking.

The event on June 7 celebrated culinary artists behind restaurants including Morimoto's, Merriman's, MW Restaurant, as well as the kickoff of Waiea tower's construction. Master sommeliers Roberto Viernes and Chuck Furuya mingled with Ward Village owners and guests and admired a 10-foot sand sculpture of Waiea tower created by a world-champion artist provided a beach-inspired visual of the future. The evening's serenade was provided by DeShannon Higa's Big Band. The food was outstanding, as was the company, and the excitement about the groundbreaking for the first residences at Ward Village was electric.
