Giving Back Never Looked So Stylish
It's a Wednesday afternoon and the vibe inside Eden In Love is electric.
A dozen or so stylish women gently meander through the Ward Village boutique, stopping to take in the latest collection of tops, dresses, and home accessories. Lounge music fills the air. The store itself is fresh, colorful, and vibrant. From the back office, a woman with a glowing smile walks forward to greet me. "Hi, I'm Tanna," she says, "welcome to Eden in Love."
Hailing from Honolulu, Tanna Dang is the founder and owner of the boutique. She's dressed sharp, confident, and welcoming; everything you would expect from a successful entrepreneur. The history of Eden in Love, Tanna tells me, is actually tied to another storefront in Ward Village, The Wedding Café. About a decade ago, Tanna purchased The Wedding Café and restructured the bridal-themed business to include a boutique of sorts. After building a strong audience for the clothing she curated, Tanna opted to sell The Wedding Cafe and expand her retail game into a standalone boutique. Eden in Love was born.
"It's been amazing to watch the company grow from its roots as a small bridal-themed coffee shop into what it is today," she tells me. "So much love and dedication has gone into creating the Eden in Love experience, and I'm so happy to see how much this company has evolved over time."
When asked what the secret has been to her success, Tanna replied, "I was in my 20s, and like so many people at that age, I was struggling to define myself. I was trying to be everything to everyone, which really results in being nothing to no one! When I started aligning myself with my life purpose, and creating the company that I wanted, everything fell into place. The right employees, brands and spaces started presenting itself in abundance. Moving to Ward Warehouse in 2007 challenged us to really step up and become a 'brand' and create systems and structure around our ideal shopping experience."
As her business continues to grow, Tanna points out that she recently expanded her merchandise to feature a home accessories section. "We love the clothing and accessory lines we carry, but we also love discovering unique ways to decorate our home as well! That's why we created Guava Lane, our home and lifestyle division. It's packed with tons of really cute and creative ways to spice up your home."
While running a successful boutique is important to Tanna, she's also made giving back to the community an integral component to the way she does business. "Giving is the essence and core of who we are at Eden in Love. We're constantly working on in-store campaigns to raise money and garner awareness for local and global non-profits and charities. In 2012, we adopted a village in Sri Lanka and have committed to donating $15,000 a year for five years, all through in store campaigns that leverage the power of shopping! It's been amazing. At the heart of it all, we're a lifestyle boutique born to give."
