Ke Kilohana Comes to Ward Village
Ke Kilohana, a new reserved housing development catered toward Honolulu's thriving workforce, is beginning to blossom in Ward Village.
Located at 988 Halekauwila, Ke Kilohana - which gets its name from the highest peak in O'ahu's Ko'olau Range - will house 424 units, 375 of which are reserved housing for qualified Hawai'i residences.
With its convenient location in the heart of Ward Village, residents of Ke Kilohana won't have to endure long hours stuck in traffic commuting to and from work. For those who work downtown, it's a short bike ride to the office. The tower will also stand adjacent to a forthcoming Kaka'ako Rail station, ensuring that daily commutes for those working outside of the city's center couldn't be more convenient. Not to mention the fact that you're within walking distance of shopping, dining, entertainment and Ala Moana Beach Park.
While Ke Kilohana's premier location will surely make it one of the city's most sought after residential destinations, it will also offer a host of other amenities that range from sky lanais, multimedia centers, theaters, and much more. Ke Kilohana will also stand atop a 23,000 square-foot flagship Longs Drug Stores.
"This project will be a game changer for the neighborhood," said Calvin Mann, director of development for The Howard Hughes Corporation. "The future residents of Ke Kilohana will be your young professionals and new families who work in the area. They'll be owner occupants, which means they're going to be the ones to help shape the community on a day-to-day-basis. They will be the familiar faces in the neighborhood or at the market."
To make the homebuying process at Ke Kilohana as simple as possible for new homeowners, a series of informative workshops were launched in December and will continue through February.
As Ward Village continues to take shape, it's clear that young professionals and working families are going to be an integral component in shaping the Ward Village community.
