Have a Bloody Good Time at New Wave Friday
Get ready, because there's a very special and wickedly fun New Wave Friday coming your way.
That's right, this Friday the 13th, the city is in for a bloody good time at Honolulu's most exciting pau hana event. There will be candy, there will be food, there will be shopping, and yes…there will be blood—for a very good cause, of course. As a monthly event at Ward Village, New Wave Friday connects local vendors specializing in unique merchandise with savvy customers, giving them an opportunity to mix, mingle, shop, eat, and play in the city's most exciting neighborhood. Between the in-store specials, music, food, pop-up shops, and activations, you're sure to be in for a ghoulishly good time when you attend our upcoming New Wave Friday.
Yep, We're Hosting a Blood Drive on Friday the 13th
What fun would Halloween be without a little blood? But did you know that only two percent of the population in Hawai'i donates blood? Because these special islands are so far removed from the rest of the world, it's up to us to ensure that the people of Hawai'i have access to the life-saving blood they need in cases of emergency. The Blood Bank of Hawai'i's bloodmobile will be posted up at the IBM Building from 4 pm to 7 pm. You can even make your reservations online by clicking here. Plus, the folks behind the blood drive are giving out free blood type results as well. If you don't know your blood type, this is the perfect opportunity to find out. Although appointments are encouraged, walk-ins are still gladly accepted. Support your community by giving blood, then go have a bloody good time at New Wave Friday.
You Can Shop 'Till You Drop
Every New Wave Friday, throngs of local boutiques and restaurants in Ward Village open up their doors for this special night. But this New Wave Friday, with Halloween in the air, we're going extra big. With a slew of activations and sales, there's never been a better time to snag that dress, shirt, or pair of boardshorts you've had your eyes on. Plus, there will be a slew of special events inside multiple stores, including MORI's art opening, "Myths: arcs, curves, and me" featuring the world of local artist Neilson Ishida. MORI will also offer a special Eye Portraits by Ryan Greer. Stop in for a quick photo shoot of your own iris and be amazed at the results. The human eye is a truly beautiful thing and you deserve to know what your eye looks like up close. "Although we look at our faces every day, most of take for granted just how amazingly complex our bodies really are," says Ryan Greer, who's working on the portraits. "I want the iris images I create to convey a sense of wonder about this world, just beyond our everyday experience."
Lucy's Lab, one of our favorite ice cream shops, will be taking their undeniably delicious flavors and pairing them with new Halloween-inspired creepy, crawly toppings for hungry patrons hankering for a little Halloween treat. In spirit with Friday the 13th, Eden in Love is offering up a special $13 sale on select Eden in Love merchandise and La Muse is also offering a 30 percent off sale on all CP Shades linen, cotton, and silk clothing, all of which is proudly made in the USA. Ward Centre will also be bringing the heat and hosting an array of specials, including Sedona's famous Psychic Fair. POSHd by Valerie Joseph will be displaying a special $20 Fashion Flash Sale.
Vibe to Live Music and Sink Your Teeth into Art+Flea
Between the food, shopping, drinks, and good times, New Wave Friday always brings the fun, for both families with children and adults alike. But of course, what good would a party be without some tunes? Lucky for us, local musicians Pena Boy and Kalena Delima from Kapena will be hitting the mic for a live show at New Wave Friday! We can practically feel the good vibes flowing already. Additionally, Art+Flea will be in the house hosting dozens of local merchants selling unique goods and food. What's not to love?
