La Nueva Onda Friday
On Friday, May 4, New Wave Friday will be celebrating the spirit of Cinco de Mayo with La Nueva Onda Friday at South Shore Market and Ward Centre!
Whether you're looking to kick off the weekend by catching some live music, sampling an array of delectable Mexican-inspired dishes, grabbing a lip-smackingly delicious drink, or talking story with the creatives behind an array of exciting local boutiques and businesses, this family-friendly event at Ward Village is the place to be from 5-9 pm. And because who among us doesn't like to be greeted at a pau hana event with a refreshing beverage, if you register for La Nueva Onda Friday on Eventbrite, you'll be promptly handed a free virgin margarita slushie or a chance to win a $50 Ward Village gift card when you check in at Ward Centre. Welcome to the weekend. Now let's celebrate!
We've always been firm believers that all great parties require some element of live music. With that in mind, La Nueva Onda Friday will be hosting Rhumba Kings, Rolando Sanchez and Salsa Hawaii and School of Salsa on stage to get you into the spirit. To be sure, we'll keep your feet tapping and your head bobbing all through the night with these festive Latin tunes and entertainment. And because this is a family-friendly event (hey, you can actually save money on a babysitter and bring the keiki) Art Explorium will be hosting Earth-friendly, Cinco de Mayo themed art activations for kids, offering you a chance to kick-start your child's creativity, all the while you soak in the good vibes with your friends.
For everyone looking to shop the night away, you'll find exclusive deals from a host of shops at Ward Centre and South Shore Market. To name just a few specials, Flotsam & Co. will be offering a free wave ring in sterling silver or 14K gold fill with your purchase of $100 or more and the boys at Salvage Public will be debuting their new Spring / Summer line. So, swing by, grab a frozen margarita, and rub elbows with the visionaries behind some of Honolulu's most talked about new lines. To boot, dozens of merchants will be open to shop the night away at Art+Flea's Urban Market, located at Kolowalu Park, situated directly across the street from South Shore Market. And for all of you foodies out there, whether you're looking to sample an inspired Mexican special (complete with a Thai twist, of course) at Maile's Thai Bistro or are hankering to try Lucy's Lab Cinco do Mayo-themed flavors, we've got you covered at La Nueva Onda Friday with tons of great dining options, including a taco truck from Mayita's Grill that'll be parked at Queen Lane, adjacent to the bar.
With tons of free parking, you can get your Cinco de Mayo vibe on a day early by heading down to Ward Village on May 4. Special late-night shopping sales, live music, ono food and entertainment, plus Art + Flea's Urban Market and free virgin slushie margaritas when you register online early—there's no better, family friendly way to dive into the weekend than by posting up at La Nueva Onda Friday from 5-9 pm on May 4. Don't miss out on the best pau hana get-down in the city. We'll see you there.
