The Dean of Delicious
Dean & Deluca is coming to Ward Village
The artisanal cafe will be the anchor tenant for Ward Village's newest residential project, Ko‘ula
While many Hawai‘i food favorites are not to be missed—think Spam musubi, ahi poke, or a savory mochiko chicken bento—adding an imported culinary curiosity to your dining lineup can provide an opportunity for new flavors, new foods, and new experiences. With that inspiration in mind, Ward Village is thrilled to announce that our forthcoming Kō‘ula residential tower will boast gourmet café and deli Dean & DeLuca.
Founded by Joel Dean, Giorgio DeLuca and Jack Ceglic, the trio opened their flagship high-end import grocery store in New York City’s lower Manhattan’s SoHo district in 1977. The store offered a new concept at the time, an international selection of luxury epicurean treats for cooking, eating, and entertaining. Since those early days in the city that never sleeps, Dean & DeLuca cafés and markets have opened across the globe, with over 60 storefronts in Asia alone. Since the first international Dean & DeLuca market opened in Tokyo in 2003, the company has spread to Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore, and Manila to name just a few international locales.
Over the decades, Dean & DeLuca has stayed true to its founding mission to curate a progressive assortment of the best and newest food products from around the globe. Jams and jellies made by monks, expertly aged balsamic vinegar, wines from the premiere producers around the globe, and the finest imported cheeses are just some of the goods you’ll find on offer.
But food and beverages aren’t the only things on the menu. Dean & DeLuca has carved out their own niche in the world of fine foods and artisanal products by offering a sleek and high-end atmosphere and shopping experience paired with a modern and minimalistic aesthetic. Complete with rich and delicious coffees, fresh, artisanal bakery goods, and sublime deli foods, and you’re staring down the ultimate recipe for a memorable lunch with friends or the perfect venue to catch up on your favorite new book.
Planned to anchor the ground floor of Ko‘ula, our new residential tower, the 1,700-square-foot café will feature all of their world-famous culinary options, and of course, their signature gourmet picnic baskets. Located alongside Victoria Ward Park, residents and guests alike can take advantage of ample outdoor seating to enjoy the perfect setting for an afternoon picnic in paradise. Whether you’re noshing on cured meats from Italy, nutty Manchego cheese from Spain, a fresh-baked baguette, and a glass of French chardonnay just a stone’s throw from the Pacific Ocean, it can’t be denied that the addition of Dean & DeLuca is sure to whet Honolulu’s cultural and culinary palate.
