Ward Village® Debuts Honolulu’s Hottest Dining Pop-Up, the Pacific Plate

All-Star Roster of Culinary Talent to Host One-of-a-Kind Dining Experience November 8-9 

HONOLULU – October 24, 2019 – Ward Village® community being developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC), today announced it will launch The Pacific Plate, a one-of-a-kind pop-up dining experience next month. Led by Ward Village Resident Chef, Chris Kajioka, the 60-acre master-planned community will host some of the nation’s hottest culinary stars to celebrate the best regional flavors from across Hawaiʻi. The two-day event will take place on November 8 and 9, 2019 at 6:00 pm at Scratch Kitchen & Meatery in South Shore Market. 

“We are excited to unveil this collaboration with Chef Kajioka that highlights the unique food and beverage opportunities that exist in urban Honolulu,” said Todd Apo, Senior Vice President of Community Development at The Howard Hughes Corporation. “Our partnership with Chef Kajioka ranges from leasing direction for new restaurants, to curating dining experiences like Pacific Plate. Together, we are shaping a new, expanded culinary experience at Ward Village.”

Acclaimed chefs invited to Honolulu for the pop-up event include Jon Yao of Kato, Los Angeles; Matt Lambert of The Musket Room, New York City; and Mei Lin of Nightshade, Los Angeles. The three will create a six-course dinner, with wine pairings, in collaboration with Chef Kajioka. 

“In my role with Ward Village, I look forward to bringing globally inspired culinary concepts to Honolulu,” said Chef Kajioka. “I’m thrilled to team with this exceptional trio of chefs to create an unforgettable meal.” 

Individual ticket pricing begins at $150; Chef’s Counter $175; and an additional $50 for drink pairings. Ticket sales for the event begin Tuesday, 10/29 at 6pm via https://www.wardvillage.com/pacificplate.

The New Zealand native has worked in many of New York City’s top kitchens. Chef Lambert draws upon his upbringing and home country’s cooking at his Michelin-starred restaurant, The Musket Room in NYC. 

Jon Yao, Kato, Santa Monica:

Chef Yao has received Food & Wine Magazine’s “Best New Chef” award, was a James Beard “Rising Star” finalist, and most recently received a Michelin star for his Taiwanese restaurant Kato in Los Angeles.

Mei Lin, Nightshade, Los Angeles:

Winner of Top Chef, Season 12, Chef Mei Lin has worked with some of the most revered chefs in the nation. Lin’s acclaimed restaurant Nightshade features seasonal Chinese-American cuisine influenced by the diverse cultures of Los Angeles.
