POW! WOW! Returns to Honolulu
Eight years ago, local artist and curator Jasper Wong debuted the inaugural POW! WOW! Hawai'i event in the burgeoning warehouse district of Kaka'ako, casting Honolulu's urban art and graffiti scene into the light of the art world.
On canvases that spanned entire streets, a bevy of young artists transformed aging industrial warehouses into vibrant works of art. The public fell in love with the work and a contemporary art movement in Honolulu was born. Fast-forward to today and POW! WOW! has become one of the most anticipated events in the city, drawing crowds from around the world to Honolulu to create and celebrate contemporary urban art with a music festival, talk story series, block parties, and much more.
The weeklong event kicks into gear on February 10th and runs through the 18th, with various events running throughout the city every day. To stay up to speed on all of the POW! WOW! happenings, follow this handy calendar below. Be sure to show up to Big Bad Wolf, who will be hosting a POW! WOW! pop-up shop at Ward Village's South Shore Market.
