Nothing too fancy, just an old-fashioned delicious hamburger. Juicy, toasty, cheesy, and classic. The way a hamburger was meant to be.
Well look at that, thanks to our friends at Big City Diner, we've got the insider's guide to whipping up a classic burger. No frills, just pure and simple deliciousness if you follow these basic rules.
Here's what you'll need for a classic burger:
The Bun: Potato bun, which yields a softer and slightly sweeter taste.
The Cheese: We're working on a classic burger here, so we recommend a tried and tested cheddar cheese or Wisconsin jack.
The Burger: Opt for ground beef burger that has a higher fat content, around 30 percent, to ensure the burger stays juicy on the grill.
The Toppings: For a classic cheeseburger, keep your toppings simple and stick to three ingredients: Green-leaf lettuce, a few thin slices red onions, and a slice of a ripe tomatoes. Don't overthink it.
The Grill: Over a hot grill, cook your burgers to 155 degrees for medium or up to 165 for well done.
The Condiments: A light smear of mayonnaise on the bun; ketchup and mustard optional.
