Kick Up Your Kitchen Skills at CookSpace Hawaii
Tucked away on the second floor of Ward Warehouse you'll find CookSpace, offering a creative approach to expanding Hawaii's culinary knowledge, one dish at a time. Through their cooking classes and slick test kitchen, students work with acclaimed chefs to create dishes that they would have never attempted before. Always wanted to make a proper baguette? How about the perfect dinner roll? Through classes like their upcoming Knead and Know: Bread 101, you can learn from an expert breadmaker. But it doesn't end with bread alone. Other classes focus on learning the ins and outs of making your own pasta or pastries, and that's just getting started. Check their website or follow them on social to see which classes are in the cue and right for you.
There's nothing that will get you out of bed and into your running shoes faster than knowing you have to compete in an actual race in the coming weeks. We're of the mindset that it's far better to commit to the race before you get in shape than the other way around. And when it comes to finding the right race for you this summer, we can't envision a more perfect gateway into the world of competitive running than the Mango Day 5K, held right across the street at Magic Island. For 14 years, this special race has honored the memory of Patty Smith, who tragically lost her battle with lymphoma at the tender age of 19. Her parents compiled Patty's diary entries, letters to friends, drawings and poems into the book, Mango Days, to keep Patty's memory alive. The distance, at only 5K or just over 3 miles, is very manageable, making the race the perfect race for novices. Plus, there's going to be a delectable brunch following the race at Ryan's Bar and Grill.
