Public Invited to Cool Off at Open-Air Ice Skating Rink, Nov. 27-Jan. 10
HONOLULU (October 28, 2015) – Ward Village®, a master planned neighborhood being developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC), today announced plans to offer an outdoor community ice skating rink in Hawai'i this winter. The Ward Village Ice Rink will offer a special open-air skating experience for a limited time only from Nov. 27 to Jan. 10 at the Ward Village Information Center Courtyard (former IBM Building).
"Just in time for the holidays, the Ward Village Ice Rink will introduce a brand new, exciting opportunity to experience our growing community at Ward Village," said Race Randle, Vice President of Development, Ward Village. The Ward Village Ice Rink will be open daily, with tickets (including skate rentals) available at the rink at $15 per person for a one-and-a-half hour skate time. Kopé Coffee Co. will offer hand-crafted beverages and refreshments, including hot cocoa, espresso drinks and more. The Howard Hughes Corporation hosts similar open-air ice rinks at some of its properties on the mainland. The Hawai'i location will be the company's first rink to be operated in tropical weather, offering skaters a chance to enjoy skating on real ice just steps away from the Pacific Ocean. Ice rink guests will also have an opportunity to visit the new Ward Village Welcome Center to learn more about the developments underway in Ward Village.
Ice Rink Events, who specializes in constructing temporary ice rinks in venues around the world, will construct and manage the 4,200-square-foot Ward Village Ice Rink.
The Ward Village Ice Rink joins a complete roster of holiday events and activities offered at Ward Village this winter, including:
- Santa's Beach House, Nov. 21-Dec. 24 (hours vary): Stop by Santa's Beach House at the Ward Entertainment Center, Box Office Level (near Ward 16 Theatres) throughout the holiday season for photos with Santa and a chance to share your wish list. Santa photo packages will be available starting at $22.
- Santa Paws, Nov. 21-22, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.: Bring your pet to O'ahu's only pet-friendly shopping and dining center for photos with Santa at Santa's Beach House, held in partnership with the Hawaiian Humane Society. A donation sitting fee of $30 includes access to digital photos. All proceeds benefit the Hawaiian Humane Society.
Honolulu City Lights Trolley Tours, Dec. 6-30: Experience the ultimate holiday outing by taking a swing through the state's most anticipated light display with Ward Village's Honolulu City Lights Trolley Tour. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Hawai'i Foodbank. Ward Village Holiday Concert Series, Saturdays throughout Dec., 7-8 p.m.: Ward Village presents its annual Holiday Concert Series with free live entertainment every Saturday in December from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Ward Warehouse Amphitheatre. IBM Building Holiday Light Show, evenings throughout Dec.: Enjoy a holiday-themed light show on the iconic façade of the IBM Building, home to the Ward Village Information Center and Sales Gallery, throughout the holiday season. Senior Giving Trees, Nov. 21-Dec. 14: Shoppers can get in the spirit of giving with Senior Giving Trees to benefit Catholic Charities Hawai'i's seniors, located at Ward Entertainment Center near Santa's Beach House.
