KUPU

To date, we have contributed more than $200,000 to KUPU, a local nonprofit operating in Kaka‘ako which aims to build a brighter future for Hawaiʻi’s youth while helping to improve the environment. Recently, we’ve donated both time and capital to help renovate a former net-drying building in Kewalo Harbor into the The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Ho‘okupu Center. Howard Hughes’ Senior Vice President of Planning & Development, Race Randle, serves on the executive council and was instrumental in raising funds for this project. The renovation included the construction of a culinary center, where youth are trained in culinary arts. Throughout the COVID pandemic, KUPU focused those culinary efforts on feeding those in need, by bringing food made by the youth to the weekly Farmers Market located right here in Ward Village.
