- Sunday, May 23 9:00 am - 11:00 am
To celebrate National Bike Month, Ward Village and Boca Hawaii are hosting an exciting series of bicycle clinics throughout the month of May at Victoria Ward Park. Get and stay bike-savvy, learn the basics of bike care, receive tune-ups, talk story with industry experts and more. Classes will be held every 30 minutes from 9am to 11am. Boca Hawaii will even be providing a mechanic tent for tougher fixes. So cruise on down every Sunday to learn something new.
April 25: Change a Flat and Bike Maintenance
May 2: Change a Flat and Deep Cleaning your Bike
May 9: No clinics in observance of Mother’s Day
May 16: Change a Flat and Adjusting Gears and Brakes
At this week’s bike clinic, Hawaii Bicycling League—O‘ahu’s oldest and largest cycling organization—is joining us to talk helmet safety and provide free helmets to lucky keiki and adults. Guests can also pick up a free map for a listing of the best places to bike on O‘ahu (while supplies last) and learn all about the #SafeUs 3-Feet Ride, a ride dedicated to educating motorists on the law that enforces giving bicyclists at least three feet of clearance when passing.
Boca Hawaii will also be there focusing on brakes: how to use them and how to properly adjust them. Experts will be there to help teach you how to change a flat and adjust gears too.
And don’t forget, it’s the last day of HBL’s Hip Hop Biki Stop. From May 10-16, Biki will count your trips, and the member with the most trips will be announced as the winner at HBL’s Mele of Bicycling Awards Show on May 22. Ward Village has six Biki stations within the neighborhood, so come on down and cruise the streets to rack up those miles!
May 23: Change a Flat and Bike Maintenance
Experts from Boca Hawaii will teach you how to change your tire and basic bicycle care techniques. A mechanic tent will be available for larger issues and tune-ups. Attendees can also expect giveaways (while supplies last). Plus, all attendees who attend the clinic and answer a question by the Boca Hawaii team will be entered to win a free bicycle. One winner will be announced at the event, and must be able to pick up the bike at Boca Hawaii’s Kaka‘ako location.
This is the last clinic of the month, so don’t miss out on all the fun!
