The Howard Hughes Corporation Announces Next Phase of Community Development Partnerships Through the Ward Village Foundation

Second Million Dollar Commitment to Invest in Non-Profits Efforts

HONOLULU (October 27, 2016) – The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC) and the Ward Village Foundation® have committed to funding an additional $1 million for community development partnerships. In 2014, Ward Village Foundation began its long-term commitment to the community with an initial $1 million pledge. Today, the Ward Village Foundation is doubling down on its pledge to the community with a second $1 million commitment. The foundation is just one part of the meaningful community benefits generated by the development of Ward Village® and The Howard Hughes Corporation’s work in Hawaiʻi.

Over the past two years, the Ward Village Foundation awarded the first $1 million dollars to over 30 grants to local non-profit organizations on behalf of The Howard Hughes Corporation. These help support local non-profit efforts to strengthen our communities through a wide range of endeavors, including youth, education, culture, housing, social services, environment and sustainability programs.

“The support from Ward Village Foundation enables the very existence of HomeAid Hawaii,” said Nani Medeiros, Executive Director of HomeAid Hawaii. “They’ve made successful projects possible, such as Tutu Bert’s House, which saves the public $2.6 million per year through its housing and related services, and Home for the Holiday, which shelters homeless children and youth for Christmas.”

About Ward Village®

Developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation, Ward Village is a 60-acre coastal master planned community in the heart of Honolulu between downtown and Waikīkī in the Kakaʻako district. Ward Village is Hawaiʻi’s only LEED-ND Platinum-Certified project and the largest neighborhood development in the country to receive such a prestigious certification. The Kaka’ako area was also recently named by Trulia as the top neighborhood with the best amenities in cities of under one million people.
